Lifetime Archival Backup

Lifetime Archival Backup

As your wedding photographer, one of my top priorities is ensuring that my clients' wedding photos are always safe and secure. I understand that these memories are priceless and irreplaceable, which is why I take great care to create an archival backup of all the photos I take at every wedding.

What is an archival backup?

An archival backup is a method of storing data that ensures it is protected from loss or corruption for a very long time. For example, the Library of Congress uses an archival backup system to preserve historical documents and other important works for generations to come.

When it comes to wedding photos, an archival backup is essential. It means that even if something were to happen to the original files, such as a hard drive failure or accidental deletion, there is always a copy of the photos that can be retrieved.

How do I create an archival backup of your wedding photos?

First, I always shoot with two memory cards in my cameras at every wedding, so I have an immediate backup of every photo as I'm taking them. I also use at least two cameras. This means that if one camera fails, there is always a backup.

Second, as soon as I've finished shooting your wedding and made it back to my studio, I transfer all of the photos to my computer and external hard drives. (It is safer to keep the memory cards in the camera until they are back in the studio.) I store the external hard drives in a secure location, separate from my computer, to ensure that they are protected in the event of theft, fire, or other disasters.

Finally, I create a third backup of your wedding photos by uploading them to a secure cloud service. This ensures that there is always a copy of your photos that can be accessed from anywhere in the world, at any time.

What does this mean for you?

Simply put, it means that you never have to worry about losing your wedding photos. Whether you accidentally delete a file, your computer crashes, or some other disaster strikes, there is always a backup copy of your photos that can be retrieved.

I take the responsibility of capturing your wedding memories very seriously, and creating an archival backup of your photos is just one way that I ensure they are always protected. You can rest assured knowing that your wedding photos are safe.
